Kefalonia

Argostoli

Argostoli is the capital city of Kefalonia and offers plenty of things to do, including shopping, dining, and exploring the local museums.

The sightseeing  starts at the Fanari coastal road between Lassi and Argostoli with a photo stop at the Katavothres Water Wheels and the Lighthouse.
Through the beautiful Livathos villages we continue to the Katsro Village where the St. George Castle is located. 
The village lies on a hill above the valley of Livathos and leads up to the Venetian fortress of St. George built in the sixteenth century.
The area around the Castle is well worth exploring with remains of pre-earthquake village houses and the remains of the medieval church of Evangelistria built in 1420. The remains of the church of St. Theodori are located south west of the castle and this church may well be even older than Evangelistria.

Drogarati & Melissani Cave Tour

This excursion takes you to two of Kefalonia’s most beautiful caves. The Melissani Cave has a lake with crystal-clear blue water, and the Drogarati Cave has beautiful stalactites and stalagmites.

Drogarati Cave, located nearly 200 feet below the surface. Discovered 300 years ago when an earthquake exposed the entrance, this spectacular two million-year-old cavern features stunning rock formations (enhanced by hidden lighting) and a magnificent hall called “Sala of Apotheosis”.

Island Tour

This tour takes you around the island to visit some of the most beautiful spots, including the Myrtos Beach, the Assos Village, the Fiskardo Village, and the Agios Gerasimos Monastery.

 
 

Assos Village

Assos nestles, at the base of a hill on a small peninsula, on the north-west coast of Kefalonia and is surrounded on three sides by the stunning blue of the Mediterranean Sea.
The village is almost hidden amidst thick pine forest, ringed by tall cypress trees and overlooked by a ruined 16th-century castle built high on the peninsula by the Venetians who then governed the island.

Kefalonia has some excellent wineries, and a wine tasting tour is an excellent way to sample some of the best local wines and learn about the island’s winemaking traditions. Several wineries, and you can take a wine tasting tour to sample some of the island’s best wines.
